HOW TO REFINISH AND PROTECT YOUR WOOD DOOR
- SCRUB DOWN EXTERIOR OF DOOR WITH HOT WATER W/A LITTLE BIT OF DISH SOAP. (DO NOT SATURATE AND FOR BEST RESULTS REMOVE DOOR LOCKS )
- WHEN DOOR DRIES, SAND WITH 220 GRIT SAND PAPER. ( FOR BEST RESULTS, SAND ALL MOLDING MEMBERS BY HAND AND BE SURE TO SAND ALL CORNERS AND TIGHT AREAS)
- REMOVE ALL DUST WITH DRY PAINT BRUSH AND VACUUM.
- TO RETURN YOUR DOOR TO IT'S ORIGINAL COLOR, APPLY (2) COATS OF URETHANE PLUS STAIN USING A REAL HAIR 2 1/2 INCH ANGLED PAINT BRUSH. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON CAN FOR RE-APPLICATION AND DRY-TIMES. (THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT BECOMES TACKY ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND NEEDS TO BE APPLIED QUICKLY AND SHOULD NOT BE OVER BRUSHED.... IT WILL BECOME SPOTTY AND RUIN THE LOOK DESIRED. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO USE)
- APPLY SECOND COAT AS INDICATED ON CAN INSTRUCTIONS.
- SCUFF FINISH WITH FINE STEEL WOOL SO THAT NEXT COAT WILL ADHERE PROPERLY. (MAKE SURE TO REMOVE ALL DUST)
- APPLY A SPAR URETHANE FINISH USING A REAL HAIR BRUSH. ANYTHING ELSE WILL NOT PROTECT YOUR WOOD DOOR FROM THE SUN'S ULTRA VIOLATE RAYS, THAT'S WHY YOUR DOOR IS IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN. (THERE ARE DIFFERENT SHEENS YOU CAN USE, LOWE-LUSTER, SEMI-GLOSS AND GLOSS. ALL ARE FINE, IT IS YOUR PREFERENCE AND WILL NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON THE PRODUCT'S PERFORMANCE)
- APPLY A SECOND COAT IF NEEDED OR DESIRED.
- TO MAINTAIN YOUR DOORS NEWLY ENRICHED COLOR, REPEAT STEPS 6 AND 7 ONCE A YEAR.
